Omnia
appoints Broadcast World exclusive representative for the Philippines
On
November 30th, Ms. Maryann Seidler concluded negotiations with Mrs. Desy
Kelly, appointing Broadcast World as the exclusive representative for
Omnia in the Philippines.
The company behind Omnia - Cutting Edge - was founded in
1985 by Frank Foti,
a radio station engineer with a passion for improving the sonic quality of
on-air broadcasts. Since then, the company has become known as the
vanguard of DSP-based audio signal processing technology. Today, the Omnia
family of products truly represents the cutting edge of audio dynamics
processing. These all-digital units have been heralded for their sonic
clarity and precision, yet possess the warmth and fullness of analog
sound.
The company is headquartered in downtown Cleveland, Ohio
USA with European offices in Freising, Germany. With dealers in over 45
nations, Omnia has become the default standard in the worlds most
competitive Radio markets. For instance, 3 of the 4 highest billing
stations in the US use Omnia, as do 4
of the 5 highest rated stations in New York, and 2
of 3 of the highest rated stations in Los Angeles. So do major
international broadcasters like Skyrock, the BBC, NRJ,
Virgin Radio and
Swedish radio. Proof positive that people who demand only the best demand
Omnia.
Most recently, Omnia has introduced the Omnia-6fm,
simply the most powerful digital audio processor available today including
96-kHz sampling and 24-bit resolution, and five bands of AGC and six bands of
limiting. A fully adjustable crossover network. Remote control via modem,
RS-232 or TCP/IP. A "Split Channel" processing mode that lets
left and right channels operate as independent processors. Built-in Omnia
SPACE-EFX stereo enhancement. Virtually unlimited preset storage using
standard PCMCIA cards (up to 30 presets per card). Plus lots, lots more.
And Omnia-6fm is DAB ready and ITU BS-412 compliant.
Now, the Omnia-6fm is coming to the Philippines
Personnel from Omnia are bringing the Omnia-6fm to the
Philippines in January, and can meet with you and show you first hand why
the Omnia leaves the competition in the dust. For a sneek peek into a
real-life point by point comparison - click

yourself, call Mrs. Miriam Pineda at Broadcast World to set up an
appointment.
Broadcast World terminates CRL
In a related development, Broadcast World has terminated
their long relationship with CRL. Mrs. Desy Kelly announced the move with
regret, saying "Unfortunately, CRL and their new acquisition Orban,
simply haven't kept pace with the needs of the Philippine market".
Broadcast World will continue to provide parts and support for the
hundreds of CRL processors in the Philippines, she confirmed.
Broadcast World supports the KBP-TLMC in Angeles City
The Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP)
recently held its 26th Top Level Management Conference at Holiday Inn
Resort Clark Field last November 22-25, 2000. Members of this prestigious
organization represent the majority of the radio and television stations operating
throughout the Philippines.
Highlighting the affair was the election of the 2001 KBP officers
and formulation of amendments to the KBP by-laws. The keynote speaker,
Vice President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, was introduced by the KBP
President Joselito Yabut. Welcoming the delegates was Mr. Ruperto
S. Nicdao Jr., TLMC Committee Chairman. November 24, 2000 was a significant
day for BWPSI. Aside from being the only supplier present during the KBP
TLMC, it had once more shown its' continuing support to the KBP as
it had always done for the last 16 years. Broadcast World distributed gifts
and give-aways to its visitors, guests and the officers and the members of
the KBP.
Broadcast World has confirmed its' continued support for
the KBP and the important Top Level Management Conference in 2001.
Radio Broadcast World airs worldwide on the Internet

EDITORIAL - Carrying the Torch
During the TLMC in
Angeles, it occurred to me that the Broadcast Industry in the Philippines
is really a closely knit family. Each November, we sit together, catch up
with what is going on, debate the concerns of the day, and plan for the
future. The generation who built the broadcast industry in the Philippines
are largely retired now - and many of their children are now carrying
on.
The same has happened at Broadcast World. My father,
Antonio Baņez left us one year ago, but the family that he inspired and
led carries on. In the same way that the current leaders of the Broadcast
Industry rely on the the lessons of their parents, we lean heavily on what
our father taught us. Now, the third generation at Broadcast World has
begun to serve as well. Last month, Eric Baņez, a recent graduate from De
LaSalle University joined Broadcast World in the Engineering Department.
The good news about this natural progression is that
there are really few new problems we are called on to solve. Our parents,
the pioneers in the Broadcast Industry have truly led the way for the
Filipino people to find their way through the dark days we all faced
together in the past, and I am convinced that we can and will serve that
same purpose in our current trials.
In this joyous season of rebirth and new beginnings, we
offer our humble support to the important work of the KBP and every
Philippine Broadcaster. From our family to yours, Merry Christmas and
let's all work together to assure a very happy New Year for us all.
