World Phils. and USA attend Broadcast Asia 2000
Broadcast
Asia 2000 is a major event assisting the broadcast industry by bringing
together the outstanding leaders of the broadcast industry from
management, engineering and production. Attendees had numerous
opportunities throughout this event held in Singapore from June 06, 2000
to June 16, 2000. They exchanged ideas, shared experiences, learned new
technologies and saw the latest state-of-the-art equipment.
Broadcast
World Phils. and Broadcast World U.S.A. were represented by Mrs. Desy B.
Kelly and Engr. Mon Baņez and broadcasters from ABS-CBN, GMA, Eagle
Broadcasting Corp., GV Broadcasting, together with NTC Commissioner
Ponciano Cruz, in order to spread back to their respective countries of
work, a significant influence in advancing todays dynamic, fast
changing broadcast industry.
The
Asian Broadcasting Union (ABU) not only took part in the conferences
and exhibits but also participated in various committee and issue meetings
held during the week. Topics discussed in the various conferences vital to
Broadcasters were: Digital Television in Australia, simplicity of life
before compression; conference of media, telecommunications and computing;
digital multimedia broadcasting; future of AM digital broadcasting.
Participants
in group discussions and exhibits came from Canada, China, Germany, Korea,
Singapore, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States. Suppliers present

IBC
2000 (International Broadcasting Convention Ltd.) will be held form
Sept.8-12,2000 at the RAI center in Amsterdam, Holland. The updated Conference
program states that there will be five (5) days of sessions which will
have up to six (6) parallel streams. The world class sessions will embrace
the key technical, management, operational and creative issues, including
the latest hot topics.

is continuing its lead in the global digital terrestrial television (DTT)
market with the announcement at Broadcast Asia in Singapore that it has
been chosen as the provider of digital terrestrial broadcast systems for
Taiwans first DTT trials. A consortium formed by the Taiwan Government,
CTS, CTV, FTV and TTV is working with TANDBERG Television to conduct
trials of DTT using the US ATSC standard.

trials are critical for Taiwans digital terrestrial television roadmap

The
KALEIDO is Mirandas multi-image display system that redefines signal
monitoring by incorporating all of the features of a control room monitor
wall in a single, multi-window display. KALEIDO is capable of displaying
up to sixteen (16) analog, digital video or computer signals. Each window
can be configured for 4 : 3 or 16 : 9 aspect ratios and can be
independently sized and positioned. Each window can be configured to
include dual rally displays and a source identification. KALEIDO allows
monitoring of up to sixteen (16) stereo audio signals using on-screen
level meters. It also provides audio and video alarms to the reported
on-screen and via GPA outputs. It includes a time code input and can
