Philippine Broadcasters attend NAB 2K
This was a banner year for attendance of Philippine braodcasters at NAB. Attendees from ABS/CBN, GMA, RMN, Mareco, Aliw, Vanguard, Quest, KBP, and the NTC were all in attendance, taking in all the sessions on new technologies - and seeing them on the exhibit floor. And, following a long tradition, many of us tried our hand at the various kinds of fine restaurants, shows, and even a wager or two (hope you won !)

Broadcast World was represented by Mrs. Desy Kelly, President and CEO, as well as by Mrs. Inocencia Baņez, VP of Legal Affairs, Engr. Mon Baņez, VP of Engineering and Mr. Marvin Baņez of BWUSA.

Technical training was the name of the day as the Broadcast World personnel went to numerous technical sessions, product launches, and dealer trainings offered during the jam packed show. Engr. Baņez and Mr. Marvin Baņez also attended a special AudioVAULT University course for 4 days prior to the show.

Supplier News

Probably the biggest news of the show was the wedding of CRL and Orban. The long time foes shared two NAB booths and CRL President Jay Brentlinger has assumed the additional role in the same capacity with Orban.

Philippine visitors were greeted warmly at CRL / Orban and shown all the new products including significant upgrades to the CRL Millennium as well as the new Orban 8400. Both promise to improve "air quality" in the Philippines !

Broadcast Electronics unveiled a wide range of new products at the show, including its new suite of Webcasting products: the eStream, the WebVault, and eStream Studio. These products make possible not only the transmission of excellent quality Internet Radio - but also provide tools for eCommerce, Web text integration and On-demand programming.

New hardware platforms for the industry standard AudioVAULT were introduced, making the system affordable at every level. The AV2 and AudioVAULT Express platforms use the same software as the legacy hardware - so no broadcasters will be left behind.

Also at BE, new Solid State FM and AM transmitters were introduced and are ready for shipment.

Literally across the aisle, Nautel made a huge splash with their new 20 and 40kW Solid State FM transmitter models.
